USM Gulf Park to host fall orientation on August 20

The Gulf Park Student Life Office at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach will host the Fall Orientation on Friday, August 20 with a one-day program designed to help new students. students to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.

“We are delighted to welcome the new Golden Eagles from Gulf Park to campus for the fall orientation on August 20,” said Jessica Langston, Student Affairs Coordinator for USM Gulf Park. “The day will be filled with tons of information to help them maximize their time at Southern Miss. We will help them connect with resources such as the Academic Success Center, Gulf Coast Library, Career Services, Counseling Center, and Student Affairs. We will also introduce them to other campus partners who will help you be successful at Southern Miss and beyond.

The full schedule for the USM Gulf Park Fall Orientation Session is as follows:

Welcome TO TOP! 8 am-11:30am

* Orientation registration, Fleming Education Center Rotunda

* Greetings from Dr Kevin Walker

* Family session, Fleming Education Center room 102

* Academic excellence with the USM Gulf Park library and the Student Success Center

*Intermission

* EVOLVE in your career with information on career preparation, internships, career counseling and community partnerships

* Student engagement session with information from student leaders on campus activities and traditions

* Pass the mic session with more campus leaders providing an overview of the rest of the day’s sessions

* Lunch at the Pavilion

Taking care of business – Hardy Hall, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

* Campus tours

* Student ID, financial aid information, business services and a visit from the Registrar’s Office representatives to The One Stop; academic advice and assistance to military veterans at the University Club; and assistance with campus technology needs, parking, and textbooks at the university bookstore.
