AUGUSTA (WFXG) – The Georgia Department of Education announced on Tuesday that the Richmond County school system will receive five grants totaling $ 999,865 to support school improvement.

“Our schools and our students will be the greatest beneficiaries of the programs that these funds make available,” said Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw, Superintendent of CHSN.

“We are using these funds to focus on reading comprehension, progressive reading and math skills to help our students be successful,” added Bradshaw.

The school system says it is also using the grant funds to support the training of the special education department, behavioral coaches and education specialists.

“Our team saw this grant opportunity and knew it would add additional support resources for teaching, special education and classroom management,” said Dr. Malinda Cobb, Associate Superintendent of Academic Services.
