North Country effort aims to alleviate racial distrust of law enforcement
A woman contacted State Police Maj. R. Anthony Oliver, the agency’s commander in Ray Brook, for advice. Her son was about to take his driver’s license test. She asked Oliver if she should tape her lettering to the front of the glove compartment.
The mother did not want her son – a person of color – killed for reaching the compartment during a traffic stop, Oliver said.
