Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld promises ‘real insurrection’ if student loans are cut
As President Joe Biden’s planned executive order to forgive some student loans once again grabbed headlines, a disgruntled Greg Gutfeld on Thursday promised a “true insurrection” if the president follows through on his campaign promise.
Offering qualified borrowers $10,000 in debt relief would be a “slap in the face” for those who have already paid off their loans, Gutfeld began, after The five co-host Geraldo Rivera called Biden’s promise a “bribe” to young voters.
“You’re forcing American taxpayers to pay for a giveaway that benefits Democrats who don’t need it,” Gutfeld said, calling the issue beneficial to those who are already well-off. “It’s not like welfare, unemployment or food stamps. It’s a gift that you or I pay for and is given to upper-class white art history majors who can then spend that money they would have spent on loans for a vacation in the Hamptons.
It has previously been reported that the White House is seeking to exclude from loan forgiveness those above a certain income threshold, with commonly floating figures being $125,000 for individuals and $250,000 for families.
“So my solution is, if you want to forgive this stupid debt, take it from the colleges because they’ve tripled tuition in the last 30 years and their education sucks. Don’t take it with us. Because I swear to god, if you do, you will see a real insurrection,” Gutfeld threatened.
“You steal money from people and you give it to people. It’s redistribution, but it doesn’t even go to the poor,” Gutfeld continued. “He actually takes people’s money to bribe people to vote for him!” It is a moral fault. It’s the worst thing. It drives me so crazy.
The five co-host Jeanine Pirro, who demanded that students “just get a job, pay off your fucking loan and shut up” when Biden extended the pause on federal loan repayments in April, sadly did not appear during from Thursday’s show to weigh in.
