VIENNA, Virginia, June 02, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — eHealth Exchange, one of the nation’s largest health information networks connecting federal agencies and healthcare providers, announced that May 2022 marks the first month in which the eHealth Exchange Hub platform exceeded one billion requests processed.

The eHealth Exchange hub provides network members with a single application programming interface (API) for connectivity. This allows members to interact with five federal agencies and the nation’s major health systems, pharmacies, regional and state health information exchanges, medical groups, dialysis centers and others to reduce expenses and the complexities of information sharing.

“The platform reduces the burden of health information exchange for healthcare institutions, which means that these institutions can improve patient-centric services in a simple and reliable way,” said Jay Nakashima, executive director of eHealth Exchange. “After months of near-misses, we are proud to have reached this important milestone and look forward to continuing to provide our network members with efficient and cost-effective interoperability.”

With 13 years of experience supporting large scale health information exchange across a network of diverse participants, eHealth Exchange is uniquely suited to be among the premier trusted and agreed exchange frameworks (TEFCA) designated by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) of the country. Information Networks (QHIN). This experience includes support for over 30 different electronic medical record technologies.

“The eHealth Exchange is a proven health information network with extensive nationwide experience,” Nakashima continued. “We anticipate a seamless addition of TEFCA to the exchange for network members who choose to sign up when it becomes available.”
