Most of the engineering graduates from Level I institutions in India dream of continuing their education at US-based colleges and universities. However, the pandemic has made that dream distant for graduates keen to pursue a master’s degree abroad. According to media reports, last year there was a 55% drop in the number of Indian students traveling abroad to pursue higher education. Compared to the 5.9 lakh students who went abroad to study, only 2.6 lakh moved last year.

Nonetheless, online programs and degrees are a relief for computer engineers and potential data scientists wanting to start their careers with a degree from US universities.

While online programs do not match the experience of studying on campus, we have listed the US data science degrees that can be obtained from the comfort and security of their home:

MS in Spatial Data Science: Pennsylvania State University-World Campus

This online Master of Science in Spatial Data Science program is offered by the PennState World Campus. The course mainly focuses on harnessing the analysis and modeling of spatial data to develop problems that impact people; design and implement solutions; research, communicate and critique the quality of data and the results of spatial analysis.

Taking this course will allow students to gain experience in at least two application areas – public health, business analysis or emergency management, and will enable them to pursue careers in geospatial sciences, science data, geospatial analysis or spatial data engineering.

The course consists of up to 36 credits, with each credit costing $ 950.
